The United Auto Workers (UAW) reported a 3.3% decline in its membership to 370,000 in 2023, marking its lowest level since 2009, according to a report submitted to the US Department of Labor on Friday.

A UAW spokesperson acknowledged the union's need for significant changes, pledging efforts to organize workers from various industries and professions. In a critical test for UAW's organizing efforts, Volkswagen's Chattanooga plant workers will vote on unionization from April 17 to 19.
